Our work
Surface dressing in rural Australia with RTB Civil
Long rural roads, cattle station tracks and service station forecourts, surface dressed by Bobby with his uncle Jason Butcher's company, RTB Civil.
What we did
How the job went
Family work on the other side of the world
RTB Civil is a surfacing and civil engineering company in Australia, owned by Bobby's uncle, Jason Butcher. Bobby works closely with Jason and travels out regularly to help on larger projects.
All of the work in these photographs is surface dressing that Bobby carried out with Jason in Australia. Much of it is in the Outback: long driveways and access roads on cattle stations, yards around farm buildings and grain silos, and the forecourt and truck parking at a highway service station.
What it brings to a job in Sussex
The method is the same one we use at home: a sound base, binder sprayed at the right rate and chippings spread and rolled in. Doing it across distances like these means planning materials, machines and timing carefully. That experience comes back with Bobby to every farm track, estate road and yard we surface in the UK.
