Surrey is two jobs in one county. North and east of the Downs it is commuter belt: driveways, parking and access on properties where the surfacing is judged on how it looks from the road. South and west, out through the Surrey Hills towards Cranleigh and Farnham, it turns into working countryside with farms, studs, equestrian yards and long private drives that carry a great deal more weight than they were ever built for.
We do both, and the difference is mostly in the specification rather than the finish. A drive in Dorking and a farm access track outside Cranleigh can end up with the same surface on top and completely different construction underneath.
Much of the county sits on London Clay or Weald Clay, which holds water and moves with it. That is why so many Surrey drives and tracks crack along the same lines each winter, and it is why we look at drainage before we quote rather than after.

Farm track had been breaking up for years and we had patched it twice. They dug it out properly, sorted the drainage first and it has been through a winter now without moving.
Yard resurfaced around a working farm. They phased it so we could still get the milk lorry in and out every day, which nobody else quoting for it had even mentioned.
