Road planings in Surrey
Road planings laid and compacted for suitable Surrey tracks and hardstanding. Ground preparation and material suitability are part of the job.
For a Surrey planings enquiry, we begin with the existing track rather than the quantity of reclaimed material. A firm, well-shaped route may be a candidate for retained construction. A route with deep movement or persistent soft sections needs those problems addressed before any new layer is considered.
Work out whether the old track provides enough support
Around Cranleigh, Dorking, Farnham and Guildford, tell us whether the route was built as a track or developed gradually through vehicle use. Previous layers and repairs can change along its length. We inspect the wheel paths, edges and water outlets to establish a practical preparation scope.
Where retention is possible, the work may involve local repair and reshaping before the specified planings are placed and compacted. Raising the track must still work at gateways, yards and neighbouring surfaces. We discuss those connections and the intended maintenance rather than promising that one overlay will solve every defect. Material suitability and provenance remain part of the decision, even when an existing base appears sound.
Planning work in Surrey
Surrey's landscape assessment distinguishes chalk hills, greensand, river valleys and wooded Weald. That variety matters more to a surface than the county name on an address. We check the ground and drainage at the property before deciding what to retain or excavate. Work is arranged from Horsham, with access and material movements planned around the particular site.
Preparation, material and compaction
We assess the route, define any ground preparation and discuss a suitable, known-source material. The proposed profile, depth and compaction belong in the installation scope. Reclaimed asphalt is different from freshly laid tarmac, and its suitability must be assessed for the intended use. Material classification matters; unsuitable or unclassified waste must not be treated as ordinary surfacing.

Road Planings in Surrey: common questions
Can planings go over an old stone track?
Possibly, if its support, levels and drainage are suitable. We inspect the track and specify any repairs first; an old stone surface is not automatically a ready-made base.
Are planings the same as new tarmac?
No. They are reclaimed asphalt material. A laid and compacted planings surface has different characteristics from a newly specified asphalt pavement.
