Cranleigh is properly rural and the work reflects it: farm tracks, equestrian yards, stud access and long private drives, with a heavy concentration of horses in the surrounding lanes.
Equestrian access has its own requirements. A horsebox is long, heavy and cannot cope with a tight turn or a steep, loose entrance, so the turning areas and the gateway matter as much as the run of the drive. Loose surfaces near a yard are also a nuisance around horses, which usually pushes the answer towards a bound finish nearer the buildings and stone further out.

Farm track had been breaking up for years and we had patched it twice. They dug it out properly, sorted the drainage first and it has been through a winter now without moving.
Yard resurfaced around a working farm. They phased it so we could still get the milk lorry in and out every day, which nobody else quoting for it had even mentioned.
