Driveways, farm tracks and surfacing in Billingshurst
Laymac Ltd covers Billingshurst and the villages around it. Tell us what needs doing and we will come and look at it.
Billingshurst is about seven miles south-west of Horsham, where the A29 meets the A272. It is close to home for us, and we cover the village and the farmland around it: Coolham, Adversane, Wisborough Green, Kirdford, Loxwood and Five Oaks.
Rural work around Billingshurst
Much of the work out here is rural. Farm tracks, yard areas, long private drives, equestrian yards and the access to converted barns and holiday lets. The ground is Weald clay, which holds water and goes soft through the winter, so a track that was fine in August can rut badly by February. A track that lasts needs a proper stone base, a camber or crossfall to shed water, and ditches or grips that actually take it away.
Not every track needs tarmac. Road planings, a traditional stone track or tar-and-chip surface dressing are often better value for a long rural run. Our guide on what a farm track costs explains the options.
Driveways in the village
In Billingshurst itself we lay tarmac, resin and block paved driveways. The approach is the same on every one: check what is under the old surface, deal with the water, then lay a construction that suits the vehicles using it.

Arranging a site visit
Send the address, a rough size or route length and a few photographs of the whole entrance or road, not just the worn patch. Tell us the heaviest vehicle that uses it and anything planned nearby, such as building work or new services. Ring 0330 043 6081 or use the quote form and we will arrange a time to come and look. The price follows in writing, with the construction set out.

Surfacing in Billingshurst: your questions
What is the cheapest way to surface a long farm track?
Road planings or a traditional stone track usually cost least per metre, and tar-and-chip surface dressing gives a sealed finish for less than tarmac. The right choice depends on the traffic and the ground, so we look before we price.
Do you cover Wisborough Green and Loxwood?
