Sherborne is Blackmore Vale country: heavy clay, high rainfall, and land that stays wet from November through to spring. It is demanding ground for any surface and it punishes shortcuts quickly.

Farm track had been breaking up for years and we had patched it twice. They dug it out properly, sorted the drainage first and it has been through a winter now without moving.
