Crowborough is the highest town in the Weald and it feels it. Properties are scattered through woodland and heath on the edge of the Ashdown Forest, many of them down long, steep, sandy drives.
Sandy ground moves under load and washes in heavy rain, so a drive here needs a properly built and compacted base far more than it needs a thick surface. Add the slope and the trees and the recurring jobs are the same three: reinstating the falls, cutting the water off before it gets a run at the drive, and rebuilding the sections that have washed out.

Farm track had been breaking up for years and we had patched it twice. They dug it out properly, sorted the drainage first and it has been through a winter now without moving.
